Pooling together for positive change in society.
Priority Five Initiative works across five urgent priorities — refugees, climate change, artificial intelligence, youth empowerment, and education — turning them into practical, community-driven programmes across Kenya.
The Priority Five
Five priorities. One fan of change.
Our mark is a fan of five wedges wrapped around a shared globe — because these five priorities aren't separate causes, they're one strategy. Select a priority to see how we act on it.
01 · Refugees
Dignity, protection, self-reliance.
Kenya hosts thousands of refugees and asylum seekers who require protection, dignity, and opportunities to rebuild their lives. We support refugee communities through programmes that promote education, livelihoods, social inclusion, psychosocial support, digital empowerment, climate resilience, and community integration — helping refugees become self-reliant while fostering peaceful coexistence with host communities.

02 · Climate Change
Community-led environmental resilience.
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing communities in Kenya, affecting agriculture, water resources, biodiversity, livelihoods, and public health. We promote climate resilience through environmental conservation, tree planting, climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy awareness, waste management, and community education — working with schools, youth groups, and partners on solutions that protect the environment while improving livelihoods.

03 · Artificial Intelligence
Making AI accessible and beneficial.
Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way people learn, work, innovate, and solve problems. We're committed to making AI accessible to communities by promoting AI literacy, digital skills, ethical AI practices, and responsible technology adoption — through training, awareness programmes, and partnerships that empower young people, educators, entrepreneurs, and organisations to harness AI for sustainable development.

04 · Youth Empowerment
Young people, leading change.
Young people are key drivers of innovation, economic growth, and positive social change. Our youth empowerment programmes equip young people with practical skills, leadership training, entrepreneurship support, digital literacy, mentorship, and employment opportunities — encouraging active participation in community development, environmental conservation, and technological innovation.

05 · Education
The foundation of transformation.
Education is the foundation of sustainable development and social transformation. We believe every child and young person deserves access to quality, inclusive, and equitable education regardless of background. Our programmes focus on improving learning opportunities, promoting digital literacy, supporting vulnerable learners, strengthening life skills, providing educational resources, and empowering communities to value lifelong learning.

Two milestones, told by the people who led them.
Nickson Mwangale
Program Manager, Priority Five InitiativeWorking hand in hand with the Bungoma County Government, we coordinated the planting of 10,000 tree seedlings across schools, public institutions, and community spaces. Beyond hitting our target, the project created a lasting culture of environmental responsibility — hundreds of volunteers, youth groups, and county officials turned a planting exercise into a county-wide movement, with awareness sessions on tree nurturing and ecosystem restoration built in along the way.
What makes me proud is that this was never just about seedlings in the ground — it was about inspiring communities to become custodians of their own environment. Follow-up monitoring has shown encouraging survival rates, thanks to the beneficiary institutions and residents who kept the commitment going.
Through support from the Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP), we implemented a comprehensive employment and skills programme that created 100 direct jobs for young people — equipping participants with market-relevant skills, workplace readiness, and entrepreneurship knowledge along the way.
The creation of 100 direct jobs represents more than a statistic — it's 100 families with improved household incomes and renewed hope for the future. Many beneficiaries have become role models in their communities, proof that with the right support, young people can drive sustainable economic growth themselves.
